What are Invisalign Clear Aligners?
Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment that uses a series of custom-made, clear plastic aligners to gradually shift your teeth into the right position. Each set of aligners is worn for about one to two weeks before switching to the next in the series, slowly moving your teeth closer to their final alignment. They’re virtually invisible, completely removable, and far more comfortable than traditional braces.
At Staley Dental Arts, Dr. Jensen uses digital scanning to map your teeth and create a precise treatment plan before your first aligner is even made. You’ll see a preview of your projected results before you commit, so you know exactly what to expect. Most Invisalign treatments take 6 to 18 months depending on the complexity of your case.
Benefits of Invisalign Clear Aligners
- Nearly Invisible | Clear aligners are discreet enough that most people won't even notice you're wearing them.
- Completely Removable | Take them out to eat, brush, floss, or for special occasions. No food restrictions, no complicated cleaning routine.
- Comfortable Fit | Smooth plastic aligners with no brackets or wires means no irritation to your cheeks, lips, or gums.
- Predictable Results | Digital treatment planning lets you preview your final results before you even start so there are no surprises.
- Fewer Office Visits | Check-ins are typically every 6 to 8 weeks, which means less time in the chair compared to traditional braces.
- Works for Most Cases | Invisalign treats crowding spacing, overbite, underbites, crossbites, and other alignment issues for teens and adults.
Invisalign vs. Traditional Braces
Traditional braces use metal brackets and wires that are cemented to your teeth for the duration of treatment. They work well, but they come with dietary restrictions, more complex cleaning routines, and a look that most adults would rather avoid. Invisalign achieves similar results for most cases using clear, removable aligners that are practically invisible.
Invisalign also tends to require fewer office visits since there are no wires to tighten or brackets to adjust. Treatment time is often comparable to traditional braces, and in some mild to moderate cases, it can be faster. Dr. Jensen will evaluate your teeth during your consultation and let you know if Invisalign is the right fit or if another approach would give you a better result.

Frequently Asked Questions
Get answers to the most common questions about dental care, treatment options, and what to expect before your appointment.
How long does Invisalign treatment take?
Most cases take between 6 and 18 months depending on the complexity of your alignment issues. Mild crowding or spacing may be resolved in as little as 6 months, while more involved cases take closer to a year or longer. Dr. Jensen will give you a timeline during your consultation.
How many hours a day do I need to wear them?
For the best results, you should wear your aligners 20 to 22 hours a day. Remove them only for eating, drinking anything other than water, and brushing your teeth. The more consistently you wear them, the more on-track your treatment stays.
Does Invisalign hurt?
You'll feel some pressure and mild tightness when you switch to a new set of aligners, which is normal. It means your teeth are moving. The discomfort is usually minor and fades within a day or two. Most patients find it much more comfortable than traditional braces.
Can I eat and drink with my aligners in?
You can drink water with them in, but remove them for everything else. Eating with aligners can damage or stain them. Hot drinks can warp the plastic. Just pop them out, enjoy your meal, brush your teeth, and put them back in. No food restrictions at all.
Do I need a retainer after Invisalign?
Yes. After treatment, your teeth will naturally want to shift back toward their original position. A custom retainer keeps them in place. Most patients wear it full-time for the first few months, then transition to nighttime only. It's the key to keeping your results long-term.
Does insurance cover Invisalign?
Many dental insurance plans that include orthodontic benefits will cover a portion of Invisalign treatment. Our team will verify your benefits and let you know your estimated coverage before you start. We also offer financing through CareCredit and HFD to make monthly payments manageable.
